Hey everyone! Foundations can be a really tricky situation for everyone to get right and you usually can't find the perfect one right off the bat; no matter how many you test on your hand in the store(which you shouldnt do by the way!). The best thing you can do is read up on the foundation you're going to be buying. Take all the advice with a grain of salt, just because one person hates it doesn't mean you will too! Everyone's skin is different. The two foundations I'm going to be comparing are the Maybelline Fit me Foundation in shade 110 and Nars Sheer Glow in Siberia.I'm going to talk about four basic elements price, colour, coverage and wear.
Price:
I purchased Nars Sheer Glow for $42 in Sephora stores but you can also purchase it online through the NARS store. The Maybelline Fit Me can be found for $7.99 at Ulta and various drug stores for around the same cost. If cost is a major issue for you when making this decision I would definetly go for the Maybelline foundation.
Colour :
I am very very very pale skinned even in my darkest state so I picked up the lightest shades available. The Nars foundation would be good for someone with very pale skin with a mixture of yellow and pinky undertones as where the Maybelline I'd say is better for just pinky tones, it could work for yellower skin tones if applied correctly. The two colours are almost identical with the Maybelline being the slightest bit darker.
Coverage:
They both apply very smoothly and silkily giving a barely there feel, but a good coverage. The Nars claims to be very sheer, but I would say it's actually a medium coverage foundation as where Maybelline is a light to medium coverage. It's a bit thinner in consistancy and you have to apply more to get the same coverage as the Nars.
Wear:
I have been wearing both foundations for at least a week now and I've noticed a few things about these products. After about 4 hours of continuous wear Maybelline starts to melt away as where Nars can go for another two hours without need for a touch up (this is without using setting powder mind you). I have normal to dry skin and these foundations work great for me giving me an almost matte finish ,despite the statements given by the companies. I think the Maybelline could most definetly be used on all skin types as where I'd stick to using Nars on normal to dry skin as it gives more of a glow. The one thing that really deters me from using Maybelline over Nars is the smell. It has a slightly perfumey smell that you can smell throughout the day on your face, as where Nars is odourless.
Overall, even though it's pricey and works for specific skin types, I love the Nars Sheer Glow and it's my everyday foundation. The fit me will work great aswell, but something about the Nars keeps me coming back! I hope you all enjoyed my review today and will come back for reviews on other products and beauty tips coming up!
There's a link to swatches of the two products below because the site isnt letting me put them in the blog!
